Since I was a child I’ve always liked everything related to beauty. I remember that at 17 years old, I straightened, curled and did hair rollers on my mothers employees who worked in my house. It was something that came to me naturally, a talent, a gift.
Back then studying beauty, didn’t have the same vision it has nowadays, and I proceeded to study business administration.
I always stood with that talent, and in those times I’d look for someone to demonstrate my abilities to. I even went abroad to take courses on different techniques on hair cuts and styles. Afterwards, I decided to focus on my field of studies. Fast Forwards to 2009, my parents acquired a beauty product franchise and this was when I started to formally study beauty in an academy. I began from scratch, getting my clientele and doing demonstrations of my work. After two years of working, my parents decided to close the business and I decided to go back to work in the commercial field.
After my second high risk birth, I lost my job and tried to reintegrate myself into the market. However, the offers I got, in my infinite search, weren’t anything compared to what I was used to earning. Out of the blue, one day, speaking with my husband Yamil in regards to a challenging moment he says:
“Everytime we talk we end up speaking about the business your parents had, your eyes light up and I believe that’s your true passion.”
This is when I start to look for and converse with the franchise my parents once worked with.
One of the ladies had told me her nephew is the one that had the business at that moment. This is when we started a deal of 60/40, where I had the 40% and I started to do what enthused me. After a year of working with the company, my business partner decided to close the company. Then again I find myself speaking with Yamil and he tells me I should start my own brand where I sell what I want, something that’s mine and that has my personal touch.
So then with my heart filled with illusion I started “DEYA” without much capital but with the biggest thing a person can have.. a dream to construct their own business with god’s help.

The name comes from a combination of DEWI Y YAMIL + DEYA!
It was the password to the internet in the house, I didn’t know what to call it and then I remembered Yamil had lent me 1500 dollars to start the business. So in gratitude I put DEYA.
I want something that would be out of this world! One of the challenges I always had was “They are good but colloquial” or “They are Dominicans”. What I’m most proud of was taking the sink from my house and being able to place it in the best beauty salons in DR! I’ve always had my eyes on the sky. There were times I would dress up to give a training as if I was going to give a conference at a bank. In reality, I was going to a family home to put keratin and get paid 2,500 pesos to complete my son’s school payment or put gasoline for the week.
That’s why I want to show that our country has the highest standards and as any other part of the world, here you can make outstanding videos, high quality commercials and things out of this world. And I want to see this on Amazon and Walmart and all over the world! God willing.
